Why you won’t see specialty titles here yet
The ADA’s National Commission recognizes 12 dental specialties, each built on training beyond dental school. Until the dentists providing this care are introduced, we describe the care itself.
Is a DMD different from a DDS?
No. According to the American Dental Association, the DMD and DDS are the same degree, with the same curriculum requirements. Each university decides which title it awards.
Dr. Pourshirazi holds a DMD from Tufts, and Dr. Stanisai and Dr. Neff hold DDS degrees. Either one means the dentist graduated from an accredited dental school.
