I’m nervous about the dentist. What can help?
Telling us is a good first step, and our office has offered comfort touches for anxious patients. Blankets, bottled water and TVs have been available so you can sit back and relax, and nitrous oxide has been offered to patients who feel very anxious.
Nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, is a sedative mixed with oxygen. According to the ADA, you breathe it through a small mask over your nose, you stay awake and able to respond, and the effects fade soon after the mask comes off.
The ADA also suggests mentioning your anxiety when you book, agreeing on a hand signal for breaks and bringing headphones for music. Ask our team what’s available for your visit, and read more about dental anxiety and comfort.
What dental technology is the office adding?
The office is adding updated technology, including 3D imaging, digital X-rays and digital impressions, for more comfortable visits and fewer appointments. Here’s what each one does.
Learn more about 3D imaging and digital impressions and how they help plan dental implants.
- 3D imaging (cone-beam CT) creates three-dimensional images of the teeth, mouth and jaw. The FDA lists uses such as planning dental implants, diagnosing root canal problems and evaluating dental injuries.
- Digital X-rays help your dentist find problems an exam can’t show, such as new cavities or impacted teeth. The ADA notes that dental X-rays use very low doses of radiation.
- Digital impressions capture the shape of your teeth with a scan, in place of traditional impression material.

How does the office keep my records?
Golden Triangle keeps digital records, which makes them easy to retrieve and cuts down on paper waste.
When Dr. Neff retired, his letter confirmed that your records stay right here. To learn what usually happens when a dentist retires, read our guide to dental records when a dentist retires.
Who will I see when I visit?
You’ll see the same caring team, with Dr. H. Pourshirazi now caring for patients and Dr. Meerweis Stanisai continuing to see patients. Meet them on our doctors page.
Our team includes Suzanne Tousignant, a registered dental hygienist and long-time member of Dr. Neff’s team. A Michigan native who now calls Southern California home, she is passionate about dental hygiene awareness. She enjoys traveling, visiting wine country and time with her two adult children.

How can I pay for my visit?
The office works with most dental insurance plans, including most PPOs, and continues to accept the same plans as before, including the UFCW member dental plan.
You can pay by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or CareCredit, and more payment choices with flexible financing are being added. See insurance, UFCW members and financing for details.
Questions & answers
Common questions
Is 3D dental imaging safe?
Cone-beam CT uses radiation, so it’s used only when needed. The FDA says its doses are generally lower than other CT exams but usually higher than regular dental X-rays. The ADA and FDA recommend it only when it’s necessary to diagnose or treat a problem, and you can ask your dentist about its benefits, risks and alternatives.
Do I need X-rays at every visit?
Not necessarily. The ADA says how often you need X-rays depends on your oral health, age, risk of disease and any symptoms. Under 2024 ADA expert recommendations, X-rays are taken only when your dentist believes they will provide needed information. New patients may have X-rays to set a baseline.
Will I need a lead apron for dental X-rays?
The ADA no longer recommends abdominal or thyroid shielding for dental X-rays, for patients of any age, including pregnant patients, because shields can block the main beam and lead to retakes. Some offices still use shielding because of local rules. If you have questions, ask our team before your X-rays.
Can I stay with my child during their visit?
Yes. Parents are welcome to stay with their child during visits. The ADA notes that at a baby’s first dental visit, a parent will likely sit in the dental chair with the child on their lap, and that crying or wiggling is normal for little ones.
What if I need care the office doesn’t offer yet?
Specialist care for oral surgery, root canal treatment, braces and aligners, and children’s dentistry is coming to the office, so you will not need to travel elsewhere. Call (951) 677-1054 and our team will answer questions about what is available now.
